2 channel audio is excellent, Surround sound with the new format is just great.Video processing is so-so for the price,Audissey EQ a plus but needs to run decoded PCM from BR player to engage.

The AV8003 is a fine product. The remote is the problem with this system. It is difficult to set up and operate.

Great sound with limitless expansion

I am using the AV8003 in a home theater setup with Sunfire Amplifier and Martin Logan Request, Aerius Surround, and Logos Center channel. Their is great acommodation for Balanced connections and a clean sound. Figuring out all of the Surround modes is somewhat challenging. Would like a simple way to retain presets. The sound is super clean and detailed. I listened to some DVD-Audio material like Porcupine Tree, Neil Young and others and it sounded terrific. This unit really cries out for a LCD remote in full color with easy access to surround modes and presets.

Perfect for home theater and basic music use. I am using the unit with the older Marantz 5 Channel AMP right now and the sound is amazingly clean and transparent. It processes all the latest Hi-Def formats with ease and accuracy. The features on this unit are endless. This is a high end unit worthy of your money. I'd challenge anyone to find a better performing and built pre/pro at the same price point.

I have used the integra 9.8 for the past year. The integra is an excellent pre-pro but the marantz ups it by a point. The marantz does not have as many bells and whistles but the quality of the sound makes up for it. Excellent separation and clearly defined sound for both music and movies. The instruction manual is not the best so don't be afraid to send emails to marantz for explanations of things that the manual does not make clear. Highly recommended.
