Audyssey MultEQ Dynamic EQ
Onkyo A/V receivers use Audyssey's MultEQ XT, MultEQ, or 2EQ to counter distortion in dedicated home theaters. All of these solutions focus on the frequency response and time domain (where most of the problems lie) across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious -- a clear, well-balanced and natural sound. The 2008 A/V receiver range features two new Audyssey technologies: (1) Dynamic EQ which selects the best frequency response and surround levels moment-by-moment, for the best listening experience at any volume; and (2) Dynamic Volume, which maintains the desired listening level for all content while optimizing the dynamic range.

Powered Zone 2
By dedicating a pair of channels on receivers with this capability, you don’t need an external amplifier to enjoy an independent stereo audio source in a remote room. For example, on higher-end models this allows for a full 5.1 channel movie to be enjoyed in the home theater, while simultaneously sending a song from a CD (or other source) to speakers in another room.

7.1 Multichannel Inputs
The emergence of HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs promises to bring unparalleled realism to home theater. Dolby and DTS have each developed improved audio formats to be encoded on these new DVD discs that will superbly complement the latest in highdefinition video. By connecting a player compatible with these new audio codecs to an Onkyo A/V receiver equipped with 7.1 multichannel inputs, you will be able to experience extreme sonic clarity from these new discs, while retaining the full use of the receiver’s other onboard codecs.

RIHD (Remote Interactivity Over HDMI)
RIHD allows CEC-compatible components or RIHD-compatible components connected via HDMI to be controlled via the AV receiver and offers at least three key benefits: 1) A standby mode, 2) volume control, and 3) a direct change function. With the standby mode, compatible RIHD components will go into standby when the user selects standby on the display. Secondly, with volume control, the user can use the display’s remote control to adjust the volume on the A/V receiver. And with the direct change function, RIHD will automatically detect which RIHD-compatible playback component has been selected.

I simply love this receiver.

It made my current Infinity RS Series speaker system sound so much better. It is highly recommended. I do wish the fold out door was more rugged. My old TX-SR937 had a metal door and was a nicer touch.

I replaced a Harmon/Kardon AVR 340 without HDMI switching and this is AWESOME! We use it in our living room home theater setup. It has ample power and the setup is easy compared to some of the other receivers I've set up in the past. It is nice to have all of the connections in one place so we don't have to change the TV input. I like the fact that you can watch video on an input and audio from another. Ex-Play PS3 via HDMI and listen to a record using the Phono input. (I may be the only person to do this.) The only real complaint is that it does run a little hotter than I would like, so make sure you have plenty of room overhead in your rack.

Great value. Auto set-up worked great. My system sounds great. I may of had a tear with my first listen after the set-up was complete. The manual is a little weak. Shouldn't be a big issue. It looks like Home Theater Mag got their eval right.
