Solid performer for the price

I purchased two AVR-1609 receivers: one for the master bedroom and one for the living room. Overall, they perform well in the relatively small (16X18 or so) rooms. Larger rooms will need more power, and the dynamic audio is a great concept but takes away from the theater experience. (Guess I should have figured that.) For the price, a good system.

This is an awesome receiver. I have a medium sized living room and it does a perfect job filling it with sound. I don't even have to turn it up that loud. It was very easy to set up and configure.

needs phono jack hooke-up for turntable
By vesh! Verified Buyer from Los Angeles, California on 5/14/2009
Pros:
Clean Sound
Cons:
Limited Functions
Best Uses:
Home Theater
Describe Yourself:
Practical
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Need more control over bass and amp; treble for playing CDs, also needs less home theater features. Should have phono outlet for stereo turntable. Should not have to buy a preamp to push power for Denon receiver to play turntable. Phono should always be add to every receiver that Denon makes. Home Theater are Ok but it should not be the main selling point of the receiver. The bass and amp; treble should be easier to locate on the receiver and amp; not on the remote. User should be able to have more control over bass and amp; treble to pump better sound. The power is great. Some user still like and amp; use stereo feature for Music and amp; great sound. Still like Denon product.

AVR-1609... not the high end, but close
By gabook Verified Buyer from San Ramon, CA on 5/4/2009
Pros:
Clean Sound, Good Power, Durable
Cons:
Limited HDMI connections
Best Uses:
Basic Systems
Describe Yourself:
Tech Savvy
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The AVR-1609 only has video pass through for HDMI. So if you're looking for a single HDMI connection for Video and audio you'll need to move up the electronics food chain. This model still has excellent sound and capabilities for digital audio fiber connection for both HDMI connections, so enjoy if you like a lower cost and a couple extra connections. I've had no issues and it performs like a charm.
