LX3 is a great camera with a few issues
By johnny fstop Verified Buyer from moscow idaho on 10/6/2009
Pros:
Bright LCD, Great Picture Quality
Cons:
Long Lag Time
Best Uses:
Travel, Fun, Art, Photojournalism
Describe Yourself:
Photo Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This camera creates beautiful pictures, much richer than the usual $150-$200 point and shoot. You can use it as a point and shoot on full auto, but it is easy to access many manual controls that can help you control the type and quality of the photos you shoot. The low-light performance is amazing and so rewarding and fun. It is not an easily pocketable camera. There is significant shutter lag. The knob to change programs can be rotated while turned off and in your bag or hand. It ships with a neck strap rather than hand lanyard.

From 35mm to this. What a surprise. I am so pleased with the purchase. For my hiking and backpacking trips I could not have made a better choice.

I bought this camera just before a 3-week overseas holiday. I was able to take great photos of landscapes, flowers (including macro), people (lots of hand-held low light shots that came out crisp and well coloured) and buildings (that 24mm equivalent wide angle is very tempting!). It has a huge array of pro-like controls that I pretty quickly learned and got used to using. As with most digital cameras, initial results in high contrast scenes didn't look great but I was able to get lots of extra detail and better balance with the editing tools in iPhoto - now they all look great! I would highly recommend getting a second battery - it's half the size of my old high-level compact camera and seems to last about half as long.

Great, versatile camera
By Bigdad Verified Buyer from Youngstown Ohio on 8/7/2009
Pros:
Bright LCD, Great Picture Quality
Best Uses:
Photojournalism
Describe Yourself:
Casual Photographer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great fun camera. Extensive options. Great lens and good in low light. Not useful for all situations due to limited zoom. But great, fast, lens with very wide angle makes it fun to use for travel, scenery, and street photography.
