TiVo HDXL

got it plugged in as per instructions but [...] we needed to have other accessories that are necessary to even do the set up. After we ordered these "necessaries", and the cable co. came to install their cable card, this thing worked for about 2 weeks before it started to scramble all output...Tivo menu and all channels...Tivo customer service was rude and nasty (customer service rep hung up on me when I asked to speak with a manager/supervisor)......now we are waiting for a non defective replacement unit...we've owned this now for 6 weeks and been able to use it for less than 2 weeks...glad I bought the top of the line? Wish I'd just paid for the cable company's version. ps: tivo customer (LACK OF) service is LESS THAN STELLAR

After stuggling with a cable company provided DVR for several months, I decided to shuck it and buy the TIVO HD XL. As soon as Tivo was up and running I could feel the darkness drain from my aura. No more recording roulette, fast forward and rewind wierdness or button delays. I worried that obtaining and installing the cable cards from the service provided was going to be painful. It was not. Time Warner cable (LA) was very familiar with Tivo equipment. The TWC installer was here for only a few moments, installed the cards and took away the clunky cable box. The monthly rental of the cable cards (plugged inside the Tivo) is slightly less than the cable box rental so basically it's a wash, but oh so much more user friendly. The Tivo HD XL has tons of disk space, far more that I will probably ever use. There must be over 300 TV shows on it now. Tivo also automatically records programs it thinks you may like but will never erase anything you've programed while doing it. I plan to have this equipment forever so I opted for the lifetime membership instead of the month Tivo [...]fee. Well worth it. Happy, painless TV again.

I am a Tivo fan for Life.My only negative is that Tivo series 3 units only work for Cable company s.

I absolutely love my HDXL Tivo. I have had tivos since 2003. And I finally graduated to the HD. I would definitely recommend this product. I do wish the price was lower, but otherwise its a great purchase.

i record weekly programs and made for tv movies. the interface is so much more user friendly than the DVR supplied by my cable company. i'm thrilled.
