Pros:
Easy To Connect, Powerful, Compatible with 2nd sub
Best Uses:
Great for music lovers, Basic Systems
Describe Yourself:
Practical, Audiophile, Professional
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

If you are a music lover ( especially Metal ) then you already have a pair of Martin Logan speakers( if not then get some ) and this sub is the perfect addition to that system. Its almost as if the sub talks to the other speakers. It is tight crisp bass for music and rumbles the house for movies. Great price compared to other subs that offer the same power. The downfiring set up makes all the difference!!!

This is a replacement for an Infinity PS-12 that bit the dust. Simply an AWESOME addition! Makes my old Infinity sound like a Wal-Mart special. So much power and clean sound, I had to turn the bass down on my receiver. The feet aren't permanently mounted, so it can be changed from front firing to down firing simply which is a super nice feature. My wife liked the look of it before I bought it and even she commented on how good it sounds!

HIghly Musical and amp; Awesome Base
By DZ Verified Buyer from Austin, TX on 8/17/2009
Pros:
Powerful, Crisp Sound, Great Sound Quality, Easy To Connect
Best Uses:
Hifi Multi-Channel Setup
Describe Yourself:
Professional, Musically Inclined
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Used 2 Abyss Units in an 11.2 channel setup (Front and amp; Rear) driven by RXZ11. In terms of base accuracy, I am highly impressed. The abyss units replaced a JBL Pro LSR 12" sub (which is bigger, twice heavier and more expensive) and a 10" Polk Audio Sub. Although I am happy with the JBL Pro sub's performance, the abyss musical accuracy on producing ultra low frequencies (base drum, double bass) simply stands out.

NONE

Before I ended up buying the MartinLogan Abyss, I auditioned quite a few subs, including some velodynes, Polks, Bonton Acoustic and Definite technology. All of them sounded good, but just good. But when I had the opportunity to listen to the MartinLogan... Wow, wow, wow. Its low frequency is very tight, no distortion and it goes lower than any other sub I've ever listened to. Its enclosure is so small, that it looks like a 10" sub, not a 12". I highly recommend this to a subwoofer.
