The Z3S records HD motion images at a smooth 60 frames per second with 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. It uses the AVCHD (MPEG-4/H.264) format, via AVCHD Lite, which stores less data than other formats and thus lets you shoot more minutes of HD motion images before running out of memory.

iA mode, for beautiful photos and movies - automatically
Just set the camera to iA mode, aim and shoot. The camera does all the rest. It automatically determines the most suitable Scene mode and helps correct blurring, focus, and brightness problems. With iA mode, it's easy to get beautiful, clear results. *In the ZS3, iA mode cannot be used when shooting motion images.

I bought this camera right before I went to Ireland. Scanned the instructions on the plane, and just started shooting and taking videos. I love this camera, and just need to spend some time figuring it out. Only complaints are the battery runs out quickly - I never take it anywhere without having another charged batter on hand. The mode dial does move easily, you just need to get used to how you hold it. Its very easy to hold in one hand - I was on a boat in ireland leaning over the rail holding it with one hand and taking photos -no problem. I'm trying to sort out the AVHDC video download to my Mac, but think the new MAC OS will take care of that. And sorting out the best setting for indoor photos - sometimes they come out a bit orange. But its a great camera if you don't want to lug around an SLR or extra camera bag - I bought a small case, and put it in my purse for my entire trip - worked out great! LOVE that it takes video too. I'm telling my Mom to buy one.

Well balanced camera, great zoom, great hd video compression and quality. Good for a quick click photo in IA mode. Not really good for professionals who need manual controls. Its a fun camera with no stress.
