Huppin's Launching New Store in North Spokane

Smart home concept store to open this fall

May 17, 2010 – Spokane, WA –Spokane residents soon will be able to experience a new kind of electronics store when Huppin’s unveils its second retail location. Located at 8016 N. Division, just north of Costco, the store will open in fall 2010. The north side store will create an estimated 10 full-time new local jobs.

The new store allows Huppin’s to expand its current product line and will feature interactive displays that show how home electronics can connect to the internet. Store personnel will be on hand to give demonstrations and help customers learn how to integrate all home electronics. For example, customers can learn how to hook up their computer to their TV, allowing them to watch YouTube videos, listen to music, or surf the internet on their home TV. The store will also feature a 3D showcase, which will include full 3D television displays as well as the latest consumer 3D camcorders. Customers will be able to shoot video in real time and playback videos on 3D TVs.

The expanded product offerings will also be incorporated into Huppin’s iconic downtown store. The addition of the second store will double Huppin’s current retail selling space, doubling Huppin’s ability to serve its local customers.

“This store will be the first of its kind in Spokane and we are excited to offer the next generation of home electronics shopping experience to regional residents,” said Murray Huppin, President and CEO of Huppin’s and OneCall. “After over 100 years in business, we are thrilled to continue growing our retail presence locally. Keeping business local has always been important to us – we have a wonderful and loyal customer base here.”

Huppin’s and Pawn 1 are working together to develop the property, which will include an expanded Pawn 1 store and two other retail spaces. Other Spokane-area businesses involved in the project include Washington Trust Bank, Vandervert Construction, Kiemle Hagood, and John Rovtar Design.
