This is such a great sub. I have had prior experience with Boston Acoustics since I also own the smaller HPS-10HO. I decided to either go with the Klipsch SUB-10, SUB-12, or the Boston Acoustics HPS-12HO for my main room setup. The Boston Acoustics HPS-12HO was the best price so I decided to go with that since I've already know what it could sound like.This is such a great subwoofer. At any volume level, there is no distortion or rattling. It also isn't very boomy like lower cost subwoofers. The sound is just amazing. During Blu-rays such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I can actually feel my couch and the floor shaking. It adds to the experience and this is one of the features that Boston focuses on. I love this sub and I'm glad that I didn't go with another model.

I have this paired with an onkyo 805, ps3 and samsung 1500 blu ray player, sharp aq 46 1080p 120hz this its an 85 serires, and klipsch quintet III's. The sound is somewhat muddy from the subwoofer if that can be understood. I was looking at a velodyne but could not get it, so i chose this based on good reviews. I am satified, but wish it was not so muddy. Music i don use my home theater for music. I do get a rumble in my seats which is not important for me. But if you want to feel the sub you can. My room size is 11 wide by 16 and we are sitting 10 feet from the tv and have a huge carpet in the room 8 by 10 so it doesnt echo with large leather couches. The quintets are amazing as clear as day no distortion when i put in the hulk blu ray with dts-hd an put it on volume of -10db's!!!! The sub set at 0 decibles from the audeseey and put the power knob on 3/4 turn. Its great.

I recently purchased this sub because I thought my old MK MX200 sub was dying. When I hooked the HPS 12HO up, I was struck by it's power while watching movies (tested it with Iron Man and Hulk)and it's timing and smoothness with music. The styling is great! I later realized that my MK Sub was actually alive and well (a long story) so I am now using both in my rec rm set-up and the combo is amazing for movies. The subs are used only for movies, I have a separate system for music in my rec room and and dedicated home theater room in the basement. BTW, did I say the styling is great!
