I own the Black version of this product and don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. this sub, WHEN PROPERLY adjusted can produce deep, loud, tight base as good as anything in its price range. Will it outperform a Velodyne 12", maybe not but it is more 'musical' than the Velodyne and equal to the 10" model for HT.Better subs can be had but NOT in this price rangeHeavy,well-braced cabinet. 300 watts RMS, about 450 Watts or more Peak wattage (current from wall socket is 600 watts). Low heat class D-amplification. RMS wattage tested at 30, 50, and 80hz test tones into 4ohm RMS from 20-20Khz with less than 1 percent THDistortion. Wattage figures match or exceed comparable Velodyne! My wife came running down from her home office on the other side of the house complaining that the Boston on the first floor was shaking her walls! Not enough base? I don't think so!

The Boston Acoustics HPS 12HO is a good deal for the money (I got mine on half price clearance). You can order different color custom Grille covers from Boston Acoustics directly via their web site. They are also on Clearance currently, so great deal/Value.This Subwoofer looks really stylish (especially with the custom colors to match your decor). The sound is good, not too "boomy", and for the money you would be hard pressed to find better. But, if you have a bigger budget, a Martin Logan, Velodyne, or other high end sub will sound better/cleaner.

About Me Guy who likes nice things
I have two of these hooked up to an Onkyo tx-sr707 with 7.2. I don't really need more than one of these subs, because of the amt of bass just one can offer. But if you have 7.2 then why not right! I got the white one because it was 200 bucks cheaper than the black. @ [$] I feel like I owe ONECALL an apology lol! I would've paid full price for these knowing what they can now do. Get them people!
Boston Acoustics HPS 12 HO Sub

About Me Practical, Tech Savvy
I am using this sub in an open air, outdoor setting. The satellite speakers are mounted on the upper frame of the Lanai (an open air room with 2 walls) and sound thin without filling the space with low end frequencies. This sub does the job very nicely.
Great Quality Sound

300 Watts isn't a lot of power compared to other subwoofers, but this model gives good sound quality for small rooms.
