A new processing unit in the Cannon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM Zoom Lens makes the AF faster than the last L-series. The re-crafted lens is now sealed and gasketed providing further protection against dust and moisture.

Great Everyday Lens!!!

About Me Semi-pro Photographer
Comments about Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM Zoom Lens:
I had to send back the first copy I received due to massive focusing and color defects, but the second copy made me believe in this lens. The bokeh is butter-smooth and the colors (especially greens and blues) are as vivid as they can be. I used to shoot RAW all the time so that I could touch up the photographs in post-editing, but I don't need to do it anymore with this lens. Now I shoot JPEG 99% of the time. Be aware that this is a tank...heavy as they can make them. But you can get used to it with time. The 2.8 is worth it in lowlight indoor situations.

Mostly happy with Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L

About Me Photo Enthusiast
I use this lens on my 5DII and 40D. I use it for scenery and indoor volleyball (low light). I have on a few occasions had the view finder go dark when I zoomed all the way in. Zooming back out just slightly recovers. It has happened a few times on the 5DII but no other lens has had this problem. It's fairly rare so overall am happy with this lens performance.

About Me Hobbyist/Enthusiast
This lens produces great bokeh. It is durable and easy to use. The weight is not an issue for me but may be for some users. Before ordering I thought the lack of IS would be a con. It has not been a problem. The only problem I have had is that on my canon rebel xti the exposures have been all over the board in the manual/creative range. I just shoot a range of exposures and delete the ones I don't want. It seems to me there ought to be a better way. On the other hand I can't argue with the results.

Outstanding Walk Around Lens

About Me Semi-Professional
Good afternoon! This is my third L lens, and it stands-up to the test of professional quality results like my other two. I use it on a Canon 40D as my walk-around lens. I also own the 70-200 f2.8L/IS and the 16-35 f2.8L. I needed something between those two that would allow me to have a walk-around lens. I also have used it as a portrait lens in the studio a bit with the 1.6 crop factor. I was really divided between the 85 1.2L and this lens because I have been doing more studio work, but I decided on this lens because I also needed the walk-around ability. I selected heavy because it is. Personally, I do not find that a negative (or con) though because I think that if you want the picture quality the L glass provides, you have to deal with the weight. It is spot-on sharp and the bokeh is very nice. You do have to be pretty close to the subject for the bokeh to look as nice as the 70-200, but it is still very nice.

About Me Professional
Well, what else do you need from a 24-70 than to be incredibly sharp and a constant 2.8 throughout the range? This lens is a jewel, very difficult to beat. Of course you can get a cheaper and lighter lens to cover even a longer zoom range, but you will never, let me be clear, never obtain this kind of quality. If you want your pictures to look professional, as if they were taken off a 35mm professional motion picture, get this lens without even thinking of the price. It will pay for itself very quickly.
