The option to record video for a good length of time is awesome! Being a performance art teacher I am constantly needing to record and replay my students to prepare for shows!
Great compact digital camera

About Me Photo Enthusiast
When I lost my last digital camera, I went looking for something that could take both wide angle photos and zoom with ease. This model struck me as a good option... and came with excellent reviews. The truth is that this is camera takes real nice pictures and is probably the best compact digital camera that I've ever seen. It has a very large (3 inch) viewer, the autofocus actually works well, even in lower light and it has a convenient toggle switch to move between photo shooting mode and picture review. Why don't all cameras have something like that? It is a little larger and heavier than many comact digital cameras, but still fits comfortably in the pocket of my cargo pants. Most importantly, in easy mode at least, I can take pictures anywhere. I was inside an old European cathedral with typical low lighting, stained glass windows, etc. This camera took great pictures even at low shutter speeds when my dad's canon would not. I've used it outdoors, at dusk, inside said cathedral and for close ups. All worked well. The only time it had some trouble was was with an extreme close up. As you might expect, if you get too close the autofocus won't work well... I think the limit seems to be about 18 inches or so. However, with a 10x real optical zoom, you can imaging being able to set back a little further than that and still get your photo. We went to a botanical garden and took some real nice pics of tulips in full bloom at fairly close range. Overall, considering this costs under $300 including tax, this is a great camera and works better on the autofocus than my Nikon SLR in that regard. To date, no problems with battery life. Seems to last longer than advertised. Of course I charged it up fully before using it the first time and tend to let the battery run down most of the way before recharging...One thing I have not tried to do is utilize any of the more manual functions. However, to date, that has not really been necessary. I have used the time delay to take pictures of my wife and I together -- and this worked well. I would say that I particularly enjoy the camera because as a guy, of course, I don't like having to read the instruction manual to do things. With this camera, I don't need to. It is that intuitive.

The iA automated function takes all the guesswork out of the tricky shots were shutter speed & light come into play.

This is an outstanding device. Image stabilization is amazing. HD Video is the best - never going back now. For the price [$], this camera cannot be beat! Just get extra batteries, and a 16GB hispeed SD card is great for HV vids.
