I had a Hitachi 1080i plasma 3 years ago which I LOVED. I bought this set expecting the same or better. Overall I am happy especially with non HD channels. I am slightly disappointed with the HD channels especially sports as there is a blur on fast moving objects (an LCD 120Hz would be better for that I guess although I thought getting a plasma 1080p would be best of both worlds - great sports and HD). The HD channels are ok but I can recall INCREDIBLE DETAIL on my Hitachi (I'm talking visible grains of sand on a beach, the whitest of snow and blades of grass. I would watch the Discovery channel just to appreciate the detail of the Hitachi). This set has nice detail on the HD channels but the Hitachi was better. I'm really impressed by the non HD channels and I remember not liking the non HD channels on my Hitachi so I guess I swapped one for the other. I have not tried BLUE RAY yet and that is true HD so maybe I'll be happier then. ONE CALL WAS GREAT.[...]Great price too! Got a 50" for $1283. Cant beat that!

Great picture, price and looks. Speakers are passable, but wont deliver deep bass or powerful sounds that some will desire, but most people use a theater system anyway, so this is not a big minus. I got this plasma for movies and gaming. I was a little worried about burn-in; but after hours of gaming with a static image on the screen no hint of image retention is there, I strongly advise anyone to purchase this diamond in the rough.

Cannot beat this TV for the money

Have TV mounted above fireplace on an angle mount. Room is upstairs with large windows. I was concerned about glare with a glass screen, but absolutely no problem. Picture is beautiful and glare-free. I was torn whether to go with plasma or LCD for this room, now I am 100% sure that this was the right decision. SD looks great, HD is stunning - especially 1080p. Some have stated the the sound is a bit weak and they are right, but then, that's why we have AV receivers and external speakers. I'm running this TV + Onkyo and Klipsch - could not be happpier.
