        I only use this thing for transferring images from my SD-card to my computer, and that's what this card reader does. No installation required with windows. The extension cable is a welcome bonus, I leave it plugged in and use it for all sorts of USB devices. Only negative is that sliding the card in and out of the card-reader is a jiggly process, not always sure whether it's properly inserted.

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            A:

            This card reader plugs into the USB port on your computer, you then take the SD or MMC from your camera and insert it into the card reader. You computer will then be able to download the pictures off your card and give you the options to review, save, or delete the pictures from your card.
