Description
Evolved from personal monitor technology road-tested by pro musicians and perfected by Shure engineers, the lightweight and stylish SE210 delivers full range audio that`s free from outside noise.

Sound Isolating Design
Included sound isolating sleeves block over 90 percent of ambient noise. Combined with an attractive ergonomic design and a modular cable, interruptions from the outside world are minimized, enabling you to focus on your music.

Why sound isolating earphones?
Sound isolating earphones provide sound quality far beyond the technical ability of the most expensive earbuds and isolation that's superior to the best headphones. By creating a secure fit between the sound source and your ear canal, unwanted background noise is blocked out while the music comes straight in.

What are sound isolating earphones?
Sound isolating earphones were originally developed as Personal Monitor Systems to allow musicians to hear their own performances in loud onstage environments. Sound isolating earphones work by using soft, pliable sleeves to block background noise, allowing small, high-performance drivers to deliver incredibly precise sound directly to the ear. These professional-quality earphones are now available for use with all of your portable digital devices.

Is isolation different from noise cancellation?
The seal created by a sound isolating earphone physically blocks most frequencies of background noise. Active noise cancellation headphones are generally larger, heavier and battery-driven. The active cancellation process negates selected frequencies through a complex process that can even introduce unwanted artifacts into the resulting audio. The natural sound isolation properties of a properly fitted in ear earphone exceeds the performance of even the most expensive active noise cancellation alternatives.

How are Shure's sound isolating earphones different from other headphones?
The primary difference is their listening position - where they are worn in relation to your ear. Headphones generally enclose your ear or rest on top of it. Regular earphones (like the earbuds often packaged with CD players) sit on the outside of the ear. Sound isolating earphones are different. They are designed to fit inside your ear canal, where they create an isolated listening area that is responsible for their superior acoustic properties.

How do in ear sound isolating earphones work?
By selecting from an assortment of included soft, flexible sleeves, you're able to personalize the fit of the earphones to your ears. The sleeves conform to the unique shape of your ear, creating a seal that isolates you from ambient noise.

Why is isolation important?
Sound isolation makes it possible to hear greater detail at a lower volume than is possible with earbuds or most headphones intended for portable use. Lower-volume listening means less fatigue over extended periods and is safer than trying to overcome background noise by turning up the volume. This makes sound isolating earphones the ideal choice for commuting, travel, exercise, study, or work - any activity where you desire portable, hi-fidelity sound.

Hi-Definition MicroSpeaker
Developed for high-quality, on-the-go listening, the SE210 employs a single balanced armature driver to deliver full range audio. The result is a jaw-dropping listening experience complete with all the thrilling details of a live performance.

Deluxe Fit Kit Includes:
Sound Isolating Sleeves
The role of the included sound isolating sleeves is twofold: blocking ambient noise and ensuring customized fit and comfort. Because every ear is different, the Deluxe Fit Kit includes three sizes (S, M, L) of the Flex and Foam Sleeves. Experiment with the size and style that creates the best fit for you—a good seal is key to optimizing sound isolation and bass response as well as maximizing comfort during extended wear.

Modular Cable
Based on extensive user feedback, Shure engineers have developed a detachable cable solution to enable unmatched personal customization. An included 3-foot cable allows you to tailor your experience depending on activity and application.

Carrying Case
In addition to the sound isolating sleeves and modular cable, a durable and compact carrying case is included the SE210 to provide a convenient, tangle-free solution to store your earphones.

I use the earphones mainly to watch DVDs at home when I don't want to disturb people and to listen to music on the go.
Overall, the sound quality of these earphones, at least to my untrained ear, is excellent, in that I find myself hearing details in the sound on the DVDs I watch and in music that I literally can't hear with other earphones and headphones I own. (One unfortunate example is that I've discovered that my TV generates a quite distinct and annoying buzz in my amplifier that I simply do not hear with any of my other headphones.) The one downside is that the bass is not as powerful as one might want for certain types of music: it's there, and it's clear and distinct, but it's just not very powerful. Turning the bass level up on my amplifier improves it noticeably, and it's fine for the kinds of things I listen to most of the time (DVDs). But people who like to have their heads bashed with a lot of heavy bass might find them a bit wanting. On the other hand, having a heavy bass response is not necessarily a sign of a good pair of headphones, as it is easy to get at the expense of any kind of clarity and detail in the music. Given the choice, I'd go with the clarity and detail at the expense of the booming bass.
Another good thing is the sound isolation, which is quite good. These earphones fit into the ears like a set of earplugs, and when they are in place they give a similar level of sound isolation. Even when there is no sound coming through the earphones, isolation of ambient noise is good, and only loud low frequencies come through at all (so, for example, you would hear someone knocking on the door). And when there is sound coming through the earphones, all outside sound is masked completely.
The one problem with these earphones is that in order for them to work properly, they have to be worn properly. They are designed to be inserted all the way into the ear, up to the base of the bud; if they are not, the sound is tinny and the bass is very weak. Learning how to do this is a bit difficult (and the instructions that come with the earphones are terrible and don't explain how to do it at all). Basically, they need to be inserted the way a pair of earplugs are inserted, in that you first compress them with your thumb and forefinger and then insert them deeply into the ear. It takes a bit of practice to learn to do this properly, and further it takes practice to learn to recognize when you have inserted them in all the way. In particular, my experience was that it also made a difference in how I oriented the bud when I inserted it, and that unless I did it with the cord coming out of the bud facing upward (so that the cord can be wrapped around the back of the ear and trail off down the neck) the phone will not go all the way into my ear and the sound is weak. When you do have the proper orientation of the bud, it slides noticeably deeply into the ear and the sound quality improves tremendously. The bottom line is that this is a problem only until you figure out how to insert them properly; after that, they are easy to put in and wear.
Overall, I am quite happy with them and would recommend them to anyone who wants a good sound-isolating earbud with clear, detailed sound quality.

First of all, the speaker pods are difficult to fit and get into the ears after you find the right plastic cup that fits your ear; then after all of that fussing around--the sound is really lousy. It sounds tinny and has very little bass. Use the ear pods that came with you iPod--they will really sound good after this disaster. Advice: Save your money. VERY EXPENSIVE for nothing. I would ask for a refund if I cound find them in the trash.
