Comments about Nikon Coolscan V LS50 ED Negative and Slide Scanner:

I use Vuescan with this product. Vuescan fully supports this scanner and works very well. For an IR channel scanner, it is reasonably fast. The slide feeder can be modified to take a 110 film strip holder, which is then manually fed into the scanner. This requires the removal of the slide ejector, and the purchase of an adapter, but it can be done like its [$]cousin. The CCD has a reasonable noise floor. Noise is there, but it's a long way from as bad as a[$]scanner.About 1.55 minutes per 35mm negative pass at "normal" exposure levels. You can adjust the exposure time to pull out extra depth from well-exposed slides, but negatives don't really benefit. It doesn't do "true" multi-sampling, but the scanner head is precise enough for mulipass reads without noticable blurring.I upgraded to this from a Plustek 7200 (no IR). *WOW*. Massive improvement in the CCD noise, not to mention the IR channel.
