We use as our main tv, picture is great. this is our 2nd xrb have had one for three years and love it too, put that one in the basement room to watch ball games.

First off, the TV design, picture and ease of use and set up are fantastic. I found out the issues with the fan noise [...] There is an irritating fan noise (like the noise of a computer fan when its hot) that starts soon after turning on and can be heard at low levels of sound- certainly can be heard if you're watching it and not wanting to wake up someone else in the room. If watching at lower sound levels, I turn on some white noise like a space heater to help. When at higher levels of sound, it is drowned out by the level but sneaks through at periods of silence in shows. I bought this TV because I have the XBR2 and I love it. I wanted to switch the XBR2 to a bedroom and the XBR4 to the family room because the black frame would look much better. Too bad that the XBR4 will go to the back room. [...] So, I'm stuck with it. It is a beautiful television except for the fan noise. I called Sony and they say that the fan noise is supposed to be- how can they design such an irritating product when everything else with it is just about perfect?
