Not very experienced with headphones, but this one seems to do the job well. It isolates sound very well. A little heavy - but comfortable - I wear them at work all day to reduce noise

Comments about Sennheiser HD280 PRO Headphones:

Best pair of closed-back headphones I've ever owned. The price is high, but fair considering the level of quality (They won't break the bank like some audiophile 'phones). They fold into a reasonably compact package for a backpack or duffel bag, but are still quite large. You also won't win any fashion contests while wearing these bad boys. Definitely great for home music listening, and they sound great with movies and video games as well.

It feels a little snug around my ears, but I have big ears so that may be the problem. Great sound quality overall though, no real complaints.

Pretty impressive sound for the price. If I could change one thing: cloth earpads so my head doesn't overheat. Vinyl earpads get sweaty if you have a hot head like me.

Comments about Sennheiser HD280 PRO Headphones:

I use these headphones to listen and analyze music. It's really great because you can hear every part clearly and being a musician you have to be able to hear every part. I just wish that I had a headphone amp to make them even better. I also would like to be able to control the bass more sometimes there is too much bass.

Comments about Sennheiser HD280 PRO Headphones:

I use the product primarily with my Cowon D2 portable digital music player. The HD 280 Pro headphones pair perfectly with the D2 but other portable players might be a bit underpowered for these 64 Ohm headphones.

Other reviews I've read about these headphones have stated that a break-in period of 24 hours+ is needed to really get the best sound from them. That seemed true so I plugged them into my receiver and left music playing for about 24 hours over a couple of days. I wasn't all that impressed with the sound at first, but it improved over time.

The worst parts about the headphones are the bulk (although not the bulkiest out there) and weight. While lying down and wearing the headphones the headband must be supported (as by a pillow) or they will fall off. Despite the bulk/weight they are very comfortable.

They do not have the boomiest bass but the bass is defined (crystal clear) as are the mids and highs. Sound is "flat" so listening at higher volumes for longer periods is not at all fatiguing. You'll hear details with these you wouldn't hear with cheaper/lesser headphones. They also do a good job of isolating outside noise -- though not as good as the best canal 'phones or noise-canceling 'phones.

    I highly recommend these headphones.

Comments about Sennheiser HD280 PRO Headphones:

these headphones are phenomenal. the first use was watching a movie i had seen many times, seen many times but never really heard properly. i was astounded how much more perfect the audio experience was. they're comfortable to wear, block out everything you don't want to hear, and are a great price compared to other brands. my interest was generated from an art project of mine where i'm constructing a suit of sensory "body" armor. i needed some headphones to which i could transmit the sounds of the world, digitized, through a device that would enable me to literally control the volume of the world. these got me one very large step closer to sensory sanity. awesome!!!!!
